BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT LANDS About 25% of the land area of Oregon is BLM land. The Prineville BLM District, which is most of the BLM land in Central Oregon, covers 1,580,827 acres. I'll go out and take some pictures of it later in the spring when it greens up, and post them here. BLM has a great web site at: |

NATIONAL FORESTS The Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests are a recreation haven. There are 2.5 million acres of forest including five wilderness areas that comprise 200,000 acres, six rivers, 157 lakes and reservoirs, approximately 1,600 miles of trails and the unique landscape of Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Explore snow-capped mountains or splash through whitewater rapids; there is something for everyone. It's easy to see that Mother Nature worked overtime here.
