I came to Oregon at about the age of 5, and have
lived here, for the most part, ever since. I grew up in Junction City,
in the Willamette Valley area of Western Oregon. I served a hitch in the US Army
and in 1971 I began
attending classes at Western Washington State College in Bellingham on
the GI Bill. Though I did not finish at that time, leaving school to travel
and then raise a family, I always intended to return to school and
finish. I had no idea it would be more than 25 years before I would get
the chance to do that! Through my life, I made numerous business and recreation trips to Central Oregon and came to know and love the country very much. In 1978, I moved my family from Western Oregon to Prineville. I worked for many years for the US Bureau of Land Management managing the public lands of Central Oregon, then ran a restaurant and bar. We built our home on Dry Creek, on land that was formerly part of the Davis Ranch, about 12 miles south of town. It was the first energy-efficient solar home in the area. In 1998, with my family grown and gone, I decided to return to school and prepare for a career change. I got my Real Estate Salesperson's license while in school and began selling. I received an Associate of Applied Science - Real Estate degree and then my Broker's License. After a tremendously beneficial year and a half with the Coldwell Banker franchise in Eugene learning how the business REALLY works, I joined another broker in his small crossroads storefront business just outside the city. Together with 2-3 salespeople, we ran a successful business in the best of both worlds of rural and urban, mostly residential sales. In 2003 I had sales of just under 2 million dollars in less than a full year. But my heart was in Central Oregon, so that fall I decided to wind down my business there and return to the land I loved. As of January 1st, 2004, I put my considerable talent and education to work helping people find and become the owners of the home of their dreams in Central Oregon. I'm a member of the National Association of Realtors© and Graduate, Realtor© Institute (GRI), Oregon Association of Realtors©, Central Oregon Association of Realtors© and the Central Oregon Multiple Listing Service (MLS). I'm not affiliated with any of the big real estate companies. I work only for my clients and my office is "Virtual". With low overhead, I can carry a smaller client load, allowing me to giving more time and personal attention to each clients needs. If you're serious about buying or selling real estate in Central Oregon, call me or e-mail me and I will go to work for you. Buyers can use the link to the "Search the MLS" feature on the left. It doesn't give MUCH information, but if you e-mail me the MLS number, I will send you additional information. Also; this is obviously not a professionally built web site. I built it myself, and I'm a real estate broker, not an IT tech. But I'm learning. I will be doing a lot of work on it as time permits and I develop my computer skills. Soon, I'll be changing the winter photos for spring and summer photos. The features and information contained in this web site are as correct and accurate as my knowledge permits. All information is believed to be accurate but is not guaranteed. I hope you find it useful as you began or continue your search for a home in Central Oregon. Thanks for stopping by, Jim |
